Multiple problems with new update. Preview and Render issues.
Has anyone had any problems with the new update?
I’m finding that previews cache, and then don’t play back. Timeline goes green, hit spacebar to stop the preview caching, and back to black! The only way I can preview anything is if I select “If caching, play cached frames”. The project I’m working on is VERY heavy, its a 16 video project with an extreme amount of expressions and effects.
I’m also finding that some comps sometimes preview faster at a HIGHER resolution?! I’m usually at quarter res and 2 skip frames. When changing to third res and 1 skip, things speed up?! What the hell is going on😅
Could my project just be so heavy that AE is just freaking out?
Last problem is that NOTHING exports in media encoder, only in render queue. Even then, I have to set the project settings to “Mercury Software only” in order for it to even complete. If using GPU, the render hangs. I put a render on last night, got up this morning, “Elapsed: 00:10:56”. So its been hung on 11ish mins elapsed for 9 hours.
Totally uninterested in going down the customer support route…
Step 1: Re-install AE (doesn’t work)
Step 2: Escalate to senior team
Step 3: Wait two weeks for them to contact you🙄 -

I lost all of last week doing exactly what you said you didn’t want to do. In the end they just updated ALL of the Microsoft Visual Studio Drivers. Maybe try starting there. It did resolve my issue which is not anything close to what you are dealing with. Try updating GPU drivers too, i’ve had issues in the past with ME not detecting GPU.
