    Hi

Thank you for the last reply, it was very helpful. While attempting that remedy, we encountered another problem.

The OMFI media files are split across three drives, one of which is an external hardrive. We need to know if it is possible to copy the OMFI MediaFiles directories from these 2 non external hard drives to the external one (in addition to the one that is already on the external), so they all reside in the same place, and then import the whole project into avid on another computer (the hard drive does seem to be fast enough for real-time playback, so this is not a problem). This may involve creating a secondary OMFI MediaFiles directory on the external drive (obviously with a second name), or combining all 3 OMFI MediaFiles directories into one on the external….can either of these suggestions be carried out?

Please note, due to human error, some files have been imported twice, and reside in diffeent folders (i.e A.mov resides in the external OMFI folder and in one of the internal hard drives’ OMFI folder. If the directories are all combined, will avid be able to use this single file (as 2 identical files cannot reside in the same directory) for all bins that require it, regardless of which one that they initially pointed to?

Any suggestions on how these could be rememdied?

Any help you could provide would be very much appreciated

    Thanks

    Vincent

Copy everything in the OMFI MediaFiles folder on each of the two non-external to the OMFI MediaFiles folder on the external. You can’t have more than one OMFI folder on a drive and expect Avid to see it. Only one, at the root of the drive, called OMFI MediaFiles. Again, Copy everything, because if there are two files named the same you’ll get message telling you so and asking if you want to overwrite. You can click “yes to all” and go get some lunch while everything transfers, or sit at the system and click “No”, which will take up your time but make the transfer faster. Your choice.

Before you delete anything on your two non-external drives, take your external to the other system and check to make sure your sequence is online. First, delete the two database files in the OMFI MediaFiles folder, then start Avid. It will rebuilt your database, recognizing your newly transferred media, and hopefully linking it to your sequence. Check it. If your sequence isn’t linked, Unlink it then try relinking it again. It should be online. If everything checks out ok it will then be ok to delete everything on your original two non-external (I guess that would be Internal) drives. Good luck. Post back if you have questions.

    Mike.
