Multiple monitors on Yosemite?
Posted by Don Scioli on October 20, 2014 at 4:14 pmHas anyone used multiple monitors on 10.10 ..mine have not worked since 10.9.2, which I stayed with. I’m using 3 HD monitors, 10801 not 4k on a 6 core Mac Pro 2014. I’m also using a powered dvi to mini converter as well as a standard dvi converter as well as HDMI out for FCPX.

October 20, 2014 at 5:18 pmI have three Thunderbolt Cinema Displays running from a 2013 Mac Pro. All seem to work well with Yosemite since launch day.

October 20, 2014 at 5:22 pmI am.
Mac Pro Late 2013 (the tube)
3 GHz 8 Core
OS X 10.10 Yosemite, also worked fine on Mavericks
Dual NEC 27″ PA272W (2560 x 1440)
Dual AMD FirePro D700Each are connected to separate TB2 ports.
Pegasus2 on it’s own TB2 port. This configuration has worked fine for both Yosemite and Mavericks. In fact Mission Control/Spaces (not sure the correct name) works really well in a dual monitor setup. You can swipe between Spaces on each monitor separately.
Also, FCP 10.3.1 recognizes and works fine with both monitors.

October 22, 2014 at 7:25 amMy three monitors have not worked at all since the day I upgraded to Yosemite. Total bummer. I can use only one external monitor but as soon as I attach more than one to my brand new MackBook pro with the dedicated video card nothing works. I REALLY hope this gets fixed soon. I really don’t want to figure out how to downgrade to Mavericks.

October 22, 2014 at 8:05 pmFred, I think you should reinstall Yosemite. I doubt this is a “bug” that Apple needs to fix. It’s probably some corruption in your particular install, and a fresh install of the OS will probably do the trick.

November 19, 2014 at 8:01 pmThe same thing happened to me, with Yosemite second monitor won’t work. In fact, control panel will only recognize the presence of an additional display when I turn the monitor off. A bit whacky. Primary monitor is a Samsung 32 inch TV and secondary monitor is a Seiki 50 inch TV.

November 19, 2014 at 8:39 pmSo we’re stuck with this, no more OS upgrades? What if future versions of FCPX do not work with 10.9.2 anymore?
there must be a workaround. -

November 19, 2014 at 9:01 pmGood news for me at least. I just installed the Yosemite update that came out this morning and it fixed it. That is a relief.
If I start the laptop with all the displays connected it still just mirrors all 4 screens with an ugly low res 4 by 3 login screen. If I unplug all the displays once it has started running they work fine.

November 19, 2014 at 11:04 pmI’m glad it worked for you, but unplugging then plugging in my 3 bib 24_ monitors every time I startup seems very 1985-ish. There has to be a better way..

November 19, 2014 at 11:08 pmI agree. It is not the user experience I have grown to expect from my Macs. I actually had one in 1985. At this point I am really glad to have them working at all.
