Multiple linear wipes expression needed
Hey guys,
what I am looking for is something like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FMCQKUF0Mg (check the expression around 4:30 mark)
Guy in the video is using radial wipe with a circle, I am using linear wipe with a rectangle. I have 4 rectangles (which form a single bar, take a look at the picture down) with 4 linear wipes applied and a single null object with 4 slider controllers (controlling the transition completion for each linear wipe).
Here is the visual representation of the bar, I use it to display election results for 4 political groups, displaying the number of votes in percentages.
What I need is very similar to what the guy in the video did (unfortunately I am not that good at expressions and couldn’t manage to figure it on my own). I want the second linear wipe to start at the point where the first one is finished. So if the first linear wipe ends at 47% completion I’d like the second one to start from that point, 3rd should start where the 2nd one finished and so on..

Before coming up with an expression to do what you need, is there a reason you can’t take all 4 bars, lay them out in a precomp, then bring that precomp into your final composition and just use 1 linear wipe to reveal the bar?

I’ll need to have 10 of these, with the info changing constantly so it made sense to try out an expression to save time 🙂

Made a simple bar graph for you, that does what you need. The only issue, the text(which updates) will need to be repositioned for each chart. The chart uses a linear wipe as a reveal, like you asked, so it’s trickier to automatically move the text to center of each box, though not impossible_it’s something that I could probably work out later….though font sizes could be an issue when you get to really small numbers.
