  • Multiple Leave Color effects on a single layer?

Posted by Cwolfe on February 16, 2006 at 3:58 pm

Recently had a session where it would have been really nice to have multiple leave color effects on a single layer. I work with NBA footage and leaving the blue AND red from a jersey would have been sweet as opposed to just the blue. I tried layering chroma keys but the noise was problematic.

    Any ideas out there?

    Thanks in advance

Not really. Leave color always works on the currently active pixel buffer after all effects that come before it (in order to circumvent this, it would have to have an explicit layer selector). Similarly other effects fail. Your best bet is to use Shift Channel to extract multiple solid colored portions of your imagery, but there obviously are limits to its effectiveness.

COULDN’T YOU APPLY THE LEAVE COLOR EFFECT ON TWO DIFFERENT LAYERS, & THEN USE “KEY OUT DARKER” TO COMBINE THE TWO?????……….

I’VE NOT PLAYED WITH THIS, BUT IT MAY WORK (?)

I’ve got a COW tutorial that does just that. Take a look at the COW tutorials section and search under Roland Kahlenberg.
