Multiple drives for working in AE
I just bought a new laptop and it only has 2 SSD slots. On my desktop I use 3 different drives, one holds all of my project files in my Dropbox folder that continuously updates between both the desktop and laptop as I switch working between the two. The 2nd drive is for all of my cache folders for AE, and then of course, the C drive that AE is located on.
My question is what would be the best approach with only 2 drives to use? Should I put my Dropbox folder on my C drive with AE and the cache folders on the 2nd drive? OR should I put the Dropbox folder AND the cache folders on the 2nd drive? OR, the Dropbox folder on the 2nd drive and the cache files on the C drive?

You don’t have any type of USB3 or Thunderbolt connection?
Its always best to keep the three separate.
I use two, local RAID and network server.
For Cloud, I have Dropbox, frame io, and Media Share.
I rarely sync cloud files to local.

I always keep my cache on a drive that’s dedicated to the task. I want the cache to be as fast as possible, so I don’t want anything else writing or reading from it when I’m working in AE. (I use the same drive for caches for X-Particles and other software too since I’m not using those while I’m also using AE, so the drive gets use for multiple software – just not simultaneously.)

Do you know how your SSDs connect internally? There’s a big performance difference between NVMe/M.2 and SATA.
Your cache should be on your fastest drive. If you have an NVMe drive, I’d put the cache there — even if it’s also your system drive.
