Multiple clip duration
Posted by Justin Badger on April 27, 2007 at 1:33 pmHi All
Can anyone enlighten me as to how to get the total duration of multiple clips that I have selected in the Browser?
Thanks
Justin

April 27, 2007 at 2:07 pmJustin, the only way I have found to do this is to clear the marks on all clips (unless you’re just looking for durations of marked segments) and throw em all in a new timeline and check the duration. You can right click and get timing info for each clip, but not a bunch at once AFAIK.
Cheers,

April 27, 2007 at 2:11 pmI don’t think you can do that (Final Cut’s not designed that way). But, you could always place an IN point in your timeine at the start of the first clip in your selection and an OUT point at the end of your last clip in your selection. The timecode display at the top left of your canvas wndow will show your IN to OUT duraton.
If you select multiple non-adjacent clips, I’d just copy and paste them into new sequence, close all the gaps, and repeat the steps above. Tedious? Not really. You’ll probably spend more time selecting the clips…
Hope that helps.

April 27, 2007 at 9:25 pmah, but there is!
with the clips selected in the browser,
start a batch capture going (Control C)at the bottom of the Batch Cap window is a total duration
only works for total duration, as it ignores in/out points
