Multiple channel audio in Premiere

November 8, 2022 at 10:11 pmWorking in version 23.0.0. I am bringing in a file with 16 tracks of mono audio. I need to add some captions and output with discreet audio. The output file continually sums all the audio to channels 1 and 2. On import Premiere creates each channel as a stereo pair, not mono. How do I get Premiere to import the audio as mono sources? I have gone through setting after setting and nothing allows me to alter this.
The second part of the question is how do I create an output file with 16 channels of discreet audio? I can only get it to mix everything to channels 1 and 2. All options and boxes to create mono outputs are grayed out and I cannot select them.

November 9, 2022 at 8:50 pmApologies Jeffrey, I don’t have a ton of experience with multi-channel audio, but wouldn’t that be something where you’d have to Modify -> Audio Channels in the project bin first, to separate all of the channels into Mono. And then from there, the Sequence settings would need to be setup for the output too. Which may auto setup for you if you were to simply make a sequence from the clip (e.g., drag and drop on to the small New Item icon)–maybe?
Joby.
