  • Multiclip Terror — Clips Changing Aspect Ratio on the Fly

Anyone have this come up? We’ve created a DV multiclip, with four cameras, put it into a sequence and its randomly changing aspect ratios from 16×9 to 4×3 when we switch cameras. Clips and Sequences settings are both anamorphic. Tried throwing out the preferences, restarting the computer to no avail. It works for the first couple of cuts, then it just changes the aspect ratio when you go back and look at the cuts. However, the multiclips look correct in the Viewer, but squeezed in the Canvas. BTW, I color corrected the clips before creating the multiclip using a chip chart so the cameras would match.

Also, in the past with an older MAC (G5 Dual 2.33 8 gbs of RAM) , we’ve been able to run multiclip with RT playback and frame rate set to Full with as many as five cameras. Now, with our MAC (8 core 2.88, 10 gbs of RAM) we’re getting the yellow/orange render “Unlimited” render prompt whereas in the past we were getting the green line above sequences.

    Here’s my setup:
    Mac 2.88 8 core
    10 gbs of Ram
    IOHD
Seagate 1TB Sata 7200 rpm media drive
    JVC DT V20L 3D Monitor
Capture and Sequences in AJA DV Anamorphic

    Thanks ahead of time.

If you added a 3-way to each clip you should export each clip to bake down the effect, then put those into the multiclip.

Double check to make sure all the clips are set to anamorphic. Is it the same clip that gives you problems or is it random.

Michael — Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you. You gave me the right advise. Apparently the clips had been brought in 4×3 and not 16×9. That worked! However, I now have a different problem for which I will put up a new post.

    Thanks again — Ashley
