    Hi All!

I’ve imported 4 streams of video into FCP 6. 3 of them were 720P 24fps. 1 was NTSC DV shot at 24PA on the DVX and then up-rez’d to match the other 3 clips.

After fighting with a pulldown removal problem (solved thanks to Raylight!) I edited my 90 min program. It worked like a charm. I copied my main sequence, and then collapsed the multiclip in that new sequence from which I was able to output a mpeg 2 and burn a DVD to watch.

Then I sent the project to Color to start correcting my edited clip. It didn’t work, so I went back to FCP to try a different export but now I can’t play back my sequence properly.

It’s still seeming somewhat like a multiclip, but I’ve got the following problems:

    – one of my clips is showing up in the timeline needing to be rendered. This particular clip was shot at 720P 24, which is the setting for the sequence, AND it worked just fine all last week, so I can’t understand why FCP is telling me I need to re-render… which I did, but now the rendered clip just shows up as black.

    – In the viewer, when I manually position the playhead, (not rolling) the 4 quadrants of the multiclip are out of synch. sometimes by many minutes. when I then start playback, the viewer jumps to a single video output, which is the same as the canvas (unless it’s on one of the re-rendered black clips)

I’ve read a thread from a few days ago talking about how FCP 6 is ‘broken’ when you try and export a multiclip sequence to Color. I’m going to assume that’s what I’m dealing with, but I wanted to see what folks had to say.

Should I export the project, and downgrade to FCP5? Has the file become corrupted? Will I be able to export the multiclip sequence as XML and then import into FCP5, or is there a different workflow to get me back and editing?

    thanks!

The solution at the moment seems to be to replace all your multiclips (even collapsed) with the original clips that haven’t been in a multiclip. One way to do this is; 1. Collapse your timeline, 2. Then, match frame each edit to its source clip and replace the clip. Do this for all clips in your timeline.
You then should be able to export into color etc…

My advice is, if you are going to start any new multicam projects, use 5.1.4. It worked really well, compared to 6 which just doesn’t!!!
