Multiclip Shortcuts Not Working
I’m currently switching from doing my multicam editing on Premiere to FCP. So, I know there is probably a very simple solution to this, but I can’t figure it out for the life of me.
I have my multiclip sequence and clips all set up. I have open sync turned on, and multiclip playback enabled. I have selected tools>keyboard layout>multiclip editing about ten times now. Still, I can not get any of the multiclip shortcuts to work. Everytime I try to change angles during clip playback, the clip stops and either a checkmark, or an exclamation mark appears in the canvas window, and no edits have been made. If I use the button bars to switch back and forth between cameras, it works just fine; its only when using the keyboard that I am having a problem. Anyone have any help they could offer? It would be greatly appreciated.
For what its worth, while I like FCP better overall, multicam edits are much easier to set up in Premiere.

Hi,
could it be that you keyboard is setup in another language?
The checkmark or exlamation point you get (in a warning triangle?) are your luma excess display which normaly gets activated by the ctrl-z shortcut…

Under tools.keyboard layout, it says default layout-U.S. So I don’t think that is the issue. Other ideas?

Are you playing back the timeline or the viewer?

I seem to get the same result either way. I’ve noticed if I hit apple+2, which should be cut to video angle 2 in the multiclip keyboard, it hides the canvas. That is the shortcut for hiding the canvas on the default keyboard layout; so it seems like maybe it isn’t changing the keyboard layout to multiclip, even when I select it.

what I meant by keyboard language was at the OS level, not in FCP…
also, are you on a laptop?
could it be you have the num lock activated somehow?

You’re pressing the wrong number 2. You have to press Cmd-2 in the keypad, not the keys across the top of the keyboard.

I’m not on a laptop, I’m on an IMac. There is only one set of keys :/ Also, I checked the language settings in system preferences and it is set on english. Is that what you were referring to?

If you have the short keyboard it won’t work. If there’s only one set of number keys, no extended keyboard with a separate keypad then the multiclip shortcuts won’t work.

That would be the problem. Thanks very much. I think I’ll try reassigning the shortcuts to work with the regular number keys.
