    Gentlemen

Based on response from my previous post (multiclip questions) I have found a solution to the issue I was having with 2 disimilar cameras not matching in a multicam edit.

    1. Went into Color with the lesser of the 2 original camera clips (the whole clips as captured) in this case HDV footage from a Z1U, which i wanted to match to a 5D. Based on info from these very forums, i was able to adjust the contrast ratios of the lesser shot so it matched the 5D clip(s)

    2. “rendered” the Color result, which created a QT file named 1_g1.mov

    3. Using QT Player Pro, I was able to Add this video file to the original Pre Color file, which had 8 channels of audio. Then went into Movie Properties in the QT Player, and deleted the original Video track, as well the second timecode track. Now I have a file with the same attributes as the original, but with a proper color grading.

4 Opened the FCP project and Viola.. the new footage shows up fine!

WOW! so much easier this way

Caveats: I made a copy of the original HDV Capture movie, and called it **Original.mov so i could go back to it if necessary. I also made sure all the clips are excatly the same length and format.

Thanx again. Now i am going to correct the rest of these lesser shots!

“I like video because its so fast!”
