Multiclip proxy file creation – smallest possible
I’m editing a music video with about a dozen angles. The footage was shot on a Nikon D7000. I would like to be able to play back as many clips as possible in a multiclip sequence. I have a very modest system (Macbook Pro 2.66 Core 2 Duo and a small RAID that does about 125 MB/s). I have transcoded all the footage to Prores LT to use for final render, but I am having a good deal of difficulty finding a proxy file size and setting that will allow RT or even 1/4 RT playback on the timeline. I’m assuming if I create proxy files that are small (640×360, square pixels) and of low enough bitrate, that I should be able to play back a decent number of proxy clips in a multiclip sequence. Prores Proxy does not seem to play back at all when reduced to 360p…does anyone have a practical suggestion for creating small enough proxy files to allow this? TIA, Jeff
