Im editing a music video, and I am needing to view multiple angles at once. However, the footage is bogging up or lagging when I play it back. I set my playback settings all the way down and it still does it. I went through the FCP manual and tried almost everything. My partner has a video he is working on and we have identical macs and he can do 4+ at a time with dynamic playback no problem. The scratch disks and everything are all set correctly everything is right in that area. I have all my footage and sources in one location. What could be the problem?

I figured out that it has to do with DVCPROHD clips, when I connect 3 angles from a different camera running HDV 1080 it plays back fine, but the HVX200 footage causes the viewer to bog up.

    The sequence is set for

    FRAME SIZE: 960×720 HD(960×720)(16:9)
    PIXEL ASPECT RATIO: HD(960×720)
    FIELD DOMINANCE: NONE
    EDITING TIMEBASE: 29.97
    QUICKTIME VIDEO SETTINGS: DVCPROHD 720p60

That’s why I asked about your drive array. Multiple streams of DVCPro HD might take more than just a single drive, while HDV can get by with slower drives. Could that be your problem?

Slow drives are the #1 cause of problems when trying to playback multiple streams in real time.

try turning off real time scopes playback.

It takes additional processor cycles to scale DVCPRO-HD to full raster for playback, unless you have a Kona card.

Thats a possibility im not editing off my RAID, im editing off a external drive. I dont have the option of turning off RT Scope Playback its not in my timeline menu. I probably have to enable something in my preferences to get to that option.. any suggestions?
