    hey everyone,
I just finished cutting 20 half hour shows for broadcast. We’re shooting with two HDX900/FS-100 at 720p30. I’ve use the Multiclip option so I could cut easily between the two cams. Now my media drive is full and we’re are starting to shoot another 20 shows.

I can’t delete the media because we are still waiting for approval. So I did a Media Manager/copy of my sequence. It’s copying alright, all my new clips are where they should be. But at the end of the process, I get the following message for almost all of my clips: AN UNKNOWN ERROR OCCURED WHILE TRYING TO RECONNECT CLIP *****.mov TO THE COPIED FILE.

Has anyone seen this problem or am I doing something wrong?
I read that media manager had problems with multiclip, is there another solution to delete unused media?

    thanks in advance
    Olivier

And I have tried copying the sequence in a new project

did you do a full copy ,WITHOUT deleting unused?
that would be the simples approach, and it may well be what you did.

i’ve seen that Reconnect warning in FCP5.11, and i couldn’t get around it

this is a total workaround, but i cant think of anything else right now:

make 2 copies of your sequence.
    keep one as is,
and switch every clip in the second too the other angle.
    media manage: Create Offline
    don’t delete unnused
    delete inactive multiclip angles.

you will get an offline version of the sequences where the clips are NOT multiclips,
and will probably connect more easily.

you could then copy the “Other angle” sequence and paste it into some inactive tracks on top of the “Main angle” sequence.

    =================

you say you tried using a copied sequnce.
was that copied from the original, or the Media Managed version?

    hey Nick
    thanks for your help.
Unfortunatly it is not possible for me to change the angle for every clip. That would take forever and the production is already late.
The copied sequence was from the original project. (Does it make a difference?)

    thank you
If you have any other suggestion, please let me know

hey does anybody know if the problems with Media Manager are fixed in FCP 6.0 ?
    Upgrading would be an option

“Unfortunatly it is not possible for me to change the angle for every clip.”

    actually, it is!
    simply select all the clips,
and then use the “Switch to next angle” command,

don’t know where that would be in the menu,
i think i fond it in the keyboard manager (tools menu) and mapped it to a keyboard command
    apple plus or shift plus.
