I am trying to perform a multi-angle edit using the new Multi_clip editing feature. Following the tutorial setup I am at the point where a Multi-clip has been created and loaded into the Timeline. Once the M-clip is in the Timeline I double clicked to load it back into the viewer. Next, I am supposed to ‘click’ the Playhead Sync Open button from the Viewer window, then click above the M-clip in the Timeline to de-select it.
From this point I am supposed to be able to hit my Spacebar and see the camera angles playback in the viewer while I hit Shift+Camera Angle # (on the numeric keypad).

The problem occurs when I hit play and the camera angles go from 4-up to 1-up view. When I hit pause it goes back to 4-Up. I’m supposed to be able to view the angles playing back in realtime in the Viewer while I rehearse switching angles. This isn’t happening and I’m frustrated. Any ideas?

Did you choose multiclip playback from the RT tab on the timeline?

Yes. All of the RT settings are in place.

    For those watching this.

Here was the problem. I shot this concert in 24pAdv (23.98) using my DVX100A. I captured all of the show in 24p with Pulldown in FCP5. The mistake came when I didn’t apparently have my Timeline setup in 23.98. By it being 29.97 I was able to go through all of the motions but when it came to actually performing Angle Switching in a Multi-Clip this was a no-go.

Something told me to create a new project and Timeline and this is when I discovered that in the Sequence Item Properties that the Timeline was 29.97. I knew something was going on when I a had to constantly render the timeline when I made any ‘false’ moves. I have actually performed a cut yet but I have been able to switch angles and rehearse the cut.

So, I guess the moral of the story is that your clips, sequence timeline ‘all’ have to match up. There can be no mixed-matching in a multi-clip.
