    Hi,

I’m trying to edit a live performance that has 16 angles.

My problem is that I just can’t see the different clips in the viewer while it plays. I can see all 16 clips when it’s on stop, but I can only see one clip when it’s playing.

What’s weird is that if I click on different spots of the viewer, while it’s playing, i can perform the edits. They actually appear on the timeline. As if the 16 clips were under that one clip playing in the viewer.

    What am I doing wrong?

Without knowing the specifics of your hardware and what flavor of video you’re cutting no one can give you an educated answer. However, your system would have to be big and beefy to display 16 channels.

Pardon me for not putting in the details of my system.

    I’m running a G5 2x 2GHZ with 1,5 GB of RAM under FCP 5.

I think that says a lot about my problem…

I have made some tests and cutting with 4 angle Multiclips is as good as it gets with my machine…

I think I will either have to cut 4 clips at a time or to litterally cut it the traditional way with ins and outs.

Has anyone ever worked with that many angles on a small system? Any piece of advice would be helpful.

Still missing some of the info that David asked for.

What format of video are you working with?
What type of drives are you using for your media? With that many streams of video, you will most likely need a beefy raid.

    Hi Zane, thanks for responding.

I’m working with DVCPRO50 footage on an internal 250 GB Disk. No RAID, no external graphic card.

    -PS-
I don’t feel stopped by that technical problem, i guess it will just take a little bit more time to edit the project.

I’m sure everything will end up being super nice.

    Thanks for the help guys.

The big thing that is holding you back on this is that you are trying to play back 16 streams of video from one signal hard drive. You are going to need a raid with much bugger data rate then what your one signal drive will do, in order to play back 16 streams of video at the same time.
