Multiclip audio follow video
Recent convert to FCP from AVID Media Composer,
How do I get Multiclip to have audio follow video during hot cutting? I have a four cam show that I need to hot switch before I edit down. Sync matches, but when I cut between cameras, audio does not follow on the timeline. After I edit multiclip in timeline, I use “Open” to view clips realtime while I edit. I noticed the audio disappears from the source side in the timeline. I need both realtime video and audio switching.
This is very annoying. How do I get it to work like AVID’s multicam?

What’s an Avid? (Rhetorical, don’t answer)The default function for multiclip is for audio to follow video (p279 in vol 2) so you’re going to need to start from scratch on the setup. See page 280 for View>Multiclip Active Tracks seelction advice.
Multiclip on FCP is new with these recent releases and it’s still pretty weird. Start on page 274 of volume 2 for most of the helpful information. You will want to load the keyboard layout for multiclip editing. It provides a series of audio and video switching and cutting buttons.
Hope you get it figured out. FCP will never work like your former platform, it’s a completely different paradigm and trying to make it happen will only piss you off. There are hundreds of confused and frustrated ex-Avid and ex-M100 users here. They’ll chime in with more advice soon.

That’s the problem.
I did read the manual, it says it automatically does a/v (never has), the view multiclip feature is on a/v but only video changes. It takes the first clips audio and lays it on the timeline. when I’m hot switching either keyboard or clicking on the cam, it sounds like audio is taking but it doesn’t appear in the timeline as such.
