I’m cutting a music show, shot with 4 Digibeta with locked timecode. All is working just fine-no problems at all. The ruff cut is complete. Oops! And then I noticed that I had flop-flopped the names of two of the songs when I logged the original tapes. Now, after capturing the clips, they are named wrong both in the browser and on the media drives. My Final Cut project and a copy of my captured media are going to get shipped to the promoters on another hard drive for cutting a promo video from the original footage. My worry is that the clips (8 of them) are named incorrectly in both the project and on the media drive. I knew this when doing the ruff cut and could easily work around it but I don’t want to create problems for the promoters on another FCP system.

    The question:
Since I’ve already completed the cut (1hour & forty minutes of program & 18 songs) I’m reluctant to simply rename the clips . Will this totally mess up the original/multiclip relationship? And can I simply rename the clips on the drives without opening up a big can of worms? Something tells me no I can’t. It couldn’t be that easy.
I can just duplicate the project and try it, but I thought I’d pass this by the herd first for some advice.
BTW, this workstation is still running version 5.1 and has not been upgraded to version 6 which I believe would address just this issue.
    Thanks in advance.
