I’m trying to edit together a two camera video of a soccer match, and although it will start off at 29.97fps, it can sometimes drop down to 10fps and never recovers unless I pause and play it again.

My PC specs are as follows…

    Intel Core i7-3820 3.60Ghz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor
    G.Skill RipJawsZ 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit
Asus Rampage IV Formula Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
    2 x Asus HD 7950 TOP 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-E Graphics Card

I’ve tried putting the videos on my SSD to see if that would help, but it did not.

The videos are MP4’s from my Zx5’s. 1280×720 at 60fps, but I’ve told the project to run at 30fps. AVC video at 9800 Kbps and AAC at 64.0 Kbps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is contributing to your problem. You’re asking Vegas to convert from 60fps to 30fps on-the-fly as you’re editing. You will get better editing performance keeping your project at the same resolution and frame rate as your source video.
