Hello all. I am currently editing in multiclip mode and all was going well. However, when reopening a project, i can never get the viewer to play back in 4-up mode. The viewer will now only display the current angle, and only show the split screen (4-up) when stopped. It might just be a strange quirk, like needing to double clip the sequence first and then playing etc, but I have tried everything, and it’s driving me crazy! How can I get my multiclip splitscreen playing back in realtime mode again? I have made sure sync is open, multicamera playback is checked in RT menu, what am I doing wrong? I really need to get this sorted! Thanks a lot!

Make sure you’re playing the timeline with open ganging rather than the viewer.

hmm sorry, i must be thick! Do you mean the canvas ‘open’ and the viewer ‘sync off’? I’ve tried all sorts of variations.

Thanks a lot for your help!

The playhead sync popups are linked, change one the other changes. They need to be set to open and you need to be playing back the timeline not the viewer.

Oh ok. Well still no luck. It was working before. I double click the timeline, the viewer displays accordingly, but never splits. It just switches to the active cut in the timeline and its in and out points change accordingly live. No idea. Thanks for the hand anyway.

You have the multiclip in the timeline. Set the viewer to playhead sync open. Switch back to the timeline. With the timeline (or the canvas) the active window. Do you not see the multilcip in the viewer in 4-up or whatever you’re set to? Play the timeline. What happens in the viewer?

yes, but as soon as i press play, it turns to full screen mode on the active angle. It is only showing 4 up when the playhead is still.

    Where are you pressing play?

Try trashing your preferences in case something strange has happened.

Make sure Multiclip playback is selected timeline (where the RT option is).

I have the same problem. Sometimes when I close FCP and restart it it’s fine. I definitely have everything set correctly, but it still keeps doing it.

    Hi Dylan

Select your entire multiclip sequence(s) on the timeline (Command-A), then go to Modify and select Uncollapse Multiclip(s). That should do it!
