Multicam Side-By-Side Instead Of Squared?
Posted by Joshua Jackson on February 15, 2011 at 2:05 amIn a multicam enabled preview window, can I have my cameras side-by-side, instead of squared (2×2, 3×3, etc…)?
I have a widescreen monitor and it would be cool to have a layout of all cameras across the time and timeline across the bottom.

February 15, 2011 at 2:04 pmIs it possible to show two still photographs in portrait orientation, side by side in a 16:9 screen? I used to do it in FCP.

Yes, you can use Pan/Crop or Track Motion. Since you are making the images small it doesn’t matter which one you use. The nice thing about Track Motion is that it affects the whole track so any images you place on those two tracks will be side-by-side. Pan/Crop would have to be done to each individual picture but you could set one up and copy and paste attributes to match them all up.

February 16, 2011 at 1:51 amAre you referring to 2 pictures, next to each other, in the frame?
Even if I could get my cameras side by side, like this, could I still choose which cameras to switch during editing?

No, not with the built-in multicam. It only supports it’s own matrix mode. But with only two cameras, it should be fairly easy to do this manually.
