Multicam sequences and takes
I’m working on a multicam project right now which has me a bit befuddled and thinking there “must be a better way.” I have a couple of hours of footage, a lot of improvised scenes with many takes and multiple cameras. My main questions right now are:
– How are takes best managed in a multicamera flow? (I’m pretty sure I don’t know a good way to handle takes in Premiere at all.) Right now I’ve got a multicamera sequence for each take, but with sometimes up to 10 takes in a section, I’m finding things are getting cluttered very quickly. I’m also combining some shots from different takes, which makes things even more messy, as I then have multiple audio tracks to manage. In this case it isn’t really a matter of choosing the “best” take as much as it is finding the angle/take that will seam well as a cover or replacement. As it stands I can’t seem to think of a way to improve the flow. If anyone has worked on a project like this and would care to share experience I’d sure appreciate it!
– I think I’m also a little confused on how to utilize the nest feature as well. As it is now, if I right click some selected video and audio clips in a sequence and choose “Nest,” it nests the video and audio and leaves an extra copy of the audio tracks in the sequence. Is this the correct behavior?
Learning. Always.
