Multicam Nests, OMF, no stereo tracks
Looking for recommendation on best workflow for multicam editing that will result in an OMF that will be optimized for the audio mixer. I came from FCP 7, and this was my first project on Premiere with multicam editing and OMF. I used a workflow (detailed below) that resulted in incompatible OMF for the sound engineer (the stereo audio tracks in my edited sequence created the issues).
*(Workflow that didn’t work well) Following a recommendation for multicam editing, I proceeded as follows:
1. Created sequence A. Placed all clips (audio and video) from the two cameras. Cam A on V1, A1-2. Cam B on V2, A304. Audio tracks were mono. Then synced all clips based on timecode.
2. Created Seq B (Nest containing Seq A [synced clips]). Audio by default became stereo. I enabled multicam.
3. Created Seq C (Edited Story). Used Seq B as source for edit. Resulting audio tracks were stereo.
**[Potential Improved Workflow] I’d obviously like to improve on the multicam process. I just read a forum post here that stated the best way to retain mono audio is adjusting the above workflow by doing the following:
1. Create sequence A. Place all clips (audio and video) from the two cameras. Cam A on V1, A1-2. Cam B on V2, A304.
2. In Seq A. Nest Video tracks only. Leave audio as is.
3. In Seq A. Enable multicam on nested video.
4. Begin edit.
Is this revised workflow the best way to go about multicam editing that will result in an OMF that is fully compatible for the sound designer (no stereo audio)?
