Multicam Monitor slow in CS3
Hello,
When I use Premiere Pro CS3 to edit the whole process works fine, when I nest the timeline to create a multicam edit and use the multicam monitor the playback then becomes very slow and jerky in all monitors to the point of the video being unusable.
I used to use Premiere Pro 2.0 and it was a lot quicker and did not have these problems, on the same PC using the same footage?
This is causing my edit times to go through the roof, on top of a 2 day installation as CS3 becae such a problem to get installed and my deadlines are looming. all help would be so gratefully recieved!
The question is how can I speed up playback?
Also when I used Premiere Pro 2.0 and I imported files to the timeline the program used to process the files extensively, CS3 does not do this? is that he problem?
The video is mpg files taken from JVC everio cameras in the form of mod files.
The spec of the PC is:
Windows XP Service pack 3
Xeon E5320 1.86 CPU
Dual Sata 250GB HDD
NVIDIA NVS 285 128mb Graphics CardBest wishes

Seriously, blame it on the everio files. the computer needs to crunch compression GOP and other horrible things that DV doesn’t have. HDD cameras are consumer and only really made for people to watch directly from the camera, a computer or burnt directly to DVD. It was not made for editing. I’d convert the footage to either DV if the resolution matches the project or into a form of HD if its a HD resolution based workflow. Never use the ugly MPEG junk for editing. It’s frame accuracy is shite too.

I’m having the same problem using the multicam monitor in premiere cs3. Playback is extremely slow and stuttery. Playback in source and program monitors is fine. My footage is 24p captured with HDV Split from a Canon HV30.Setup:
2.8 Ghz CPU
2 GB RAM
200GB SATA RAID0 as scratch disk
XP SP3I’ve done a great deal of defraging and disk clean up, quitting unnecasary programs, updateing premiere, etc.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think that my problem in the end was a third party application that I had installed to allow me to use mod files. Once I had copied the ac3 dll from after effects and put it into PP everything went a lot better – it rendered the video on import and was able to edit it a lot better…
Do you have any 3rd party pluggins installed for this reason?
Otherwise everybody will tell you its the initial video format… and they all know a lot more than me, i just managed to ‘wing’ it to be honest…
