I have 2 clips of b-roll and 4 clips of main subject (high school Graduation) in a sequence, in the project panel. The 4 main clips range from 40 min to 55 mins long, and are from a 4 cam shoot. (4 Sony HDR-FX1000). I’ve placed the 4 main clips on 4 tracks in the time, and Synced them. I then created a new sequence per the book (Manual).

I then try to nest sequence 01 onto the muticam sequence I created in the timeline per the book. The problem is I’m not able to click on sequence 01 in the project panal to drag and drop it on the multicam sequence per the book. What the hey? Could it be that I have more than 4 clips (I have 6 total) in the project panal?

    Any thoughts or help?

You need to add the multiclip sequence (sync’d multi layered timeline) into a new sequence (nesting) then right click on the nested clip and activate the multi-cam function of the nest.
Then open up the multi-cam window to edit the multi-cam in the second sequence where the cuts – when you click on different angles in the multi-cam window while playing it all back, appear and indicate which camera angle (track no).

    Hi Jon,

Please re-read the 2nd paragraph in my post. (I’m unable to click on sequence 01 to drag and drop on the multicam sequence in the timelime). I do know how to set up multicam edits in premiere. but for some reason I’m unable to left click on sequence 01 in the project panal.

    Thank you,
    Mel

So you are saying that you can’t select the icon of the sequence in the project panel at all?

That sounds like something has gone wrong with the project, try starting a new project and importing the old one, then setting up the multi-cam edit.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jon,

Yes, you are correct in saying, that I can not click or select sequence #01 to nest on or in the multi-cam sequence in the timeline. I was going to try a new project with a slightly new name to see if that helps.

I’m wondering if Premiere CS3 allows only 4 clips maximum, in the project panel in order to create a
multi-cam edit? Or is more that 4 clips permitted in the project panel? I have 2 b-roll clips and 4 main clips.

    Thank you,

    Mel

Hi Mel, I just did a test with CS4 and I don’t have the problem you are having. I know your using CS3, but from memory the Multi-cam limit is 4 to MC edit, but that’s just looking at the 1st 4 tracks so the other tracks (5+6 or more) can be there, they just won’t be editable. I tested (CS4) having 4 tracks, 5 and 6 tracks and each time the nested sequence was able to be Multi-cam enabled and only showed the limit of tracks 1-4 to edit in the MC window.
If you can’t select the sequence in the project panel that has nothing to do with Multi-cam, any sequence is scene as a sequence not a multi-cam just because it has multi-ple tracks used.
I’d try to test the scenario with a single clip stacked up to 6 tracks over itself and try to use that in a new seq, then enable it for MC.
You may need to provide a screen shot of the problem you’re having if this doesn’t resolve with a positive testing and then negative results for the actual edit you want to make.

    Hi Jon

I think I may have figured out my problem… I just recently bought a new computer. A Gateway FX6801-03 machine. See link for specs. (https://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668284.php). It’s running Windows Home Premium, 64 bit. And I use Adobe Producton Premium CS3.
Which is a 32 bit program. I’ll be upgrading next week to Production Premium CS4. I hope this will cure my head aches. I’ll keep you posted.

    Thanks again
    Mel
