Multicam in FCP X: keep all sound tracks, just cut video
I have created a multicam from 4 cams without problem in FCP X.
Now i want to keep all the four sound tracks (without any modification) and just cut on the different video tracks.
I have not a “special” separated 5th sound track.
The system does not allow me to make every angle only “video change” but always lets one angle “video and sound change” allowing only the three others to change to “only video change”.What is the trick to use????

You could create a synchronized clip from the same sources then add that synchronized clip into a new lane in your multicam, then sync it to one of your clips and make that your sole audio source in your multicam. You can then adjust levels inside the synchronized clip.

I have found another method.
I take my normal multi cam clip select audio angel 1 and via share export it via “Media” audi only.
I take my normal multi cam clip select audio angel 2 and via share export it via “Media” audi only.
I take my normal multi cam clip select audio angel 3 and via share export it via “Media” audi only.
I import the three audio AIFF into my work.
Pull them down separately under the multi-cam and put the sound of the multi cam to -96.

There’s no need to export the audio and reimport it. you can add the audio to your project using the individual camera clips and just edit audio only into the timeline. This keeps your audio tracks separate from your multiclip and then you just cut between video angles.

You are right if you have only one sequence filmed with different cameras:
I had 4 cameras having acquired 3 different sequences of different durations during a representation lasting three hours.
If you now want to synchronise that 12 different sequences without multicam at the way suggested by you, you will drive crazy.
With my way it lasts only 10 minutes to get 3 sound sequences directly ready which have exactly the same duration…

Either you’re not understanding my point, or I have no idea what you mean. Your first post mentioned a 4 camera multiclip with 4 tracks of audio (1 for each camera). You said that you wanted to keep the audio as is and only edit the video.
I was suggesting that you lay the audio into the timeline separate because then it’s not part of the multiclip which only allows for audio from one camera.
You mentioned that you were taking the audio from each camera, exporting it and bringing it back into FCPX. I was saying that’s not necessary since the audio is already in your project. So clearly there is some element I don’t understand about your workflow.
Have you already edited the audio from your original multiclip and now want to edit more, but only video? That’s the only thing I can think of that fits with the other things you’re saying.
