    Hello,

I am currently assisting on a large, multicamera, multitrack audio show. We have 4 cameras and several multitrack recorders.
A, B, and D cameras were nice and just let their cameras roll during the 4 hour event, but C camera started and stopped for each shot.

We have autosequenced each camera and combined them all into a single timeline with matching Time of Day timecode, which we need in order to sync up our audio.
We then select all our master clips and create a multigroup, which creates a large multigroup sequence that doesn’t follow our autosequenced time code (it removes all gaps in recording, and places each shot one after the other). As a result, we have to lay in each group that was created as part of the multigroup onto the sequence, every time a camera starts rolling.

I figure there must be a better way to do this. Our issues are coming from requiring the sequences to maintain the time of day timecode in order to sync up our multitrack audio.

Sorry if what we’re doing is unclear – any insights would be appreciated.

    Craig

Doesn’t the audio have matching timecode to the cameras?

Try creating a dummy source clip that spans the entire set of dailies you want in a single group, then group from there.

I’m a little unclear- are you having trouble syncing all clips up with the audio, or just the C camera that started and stopped. Was the timecode jammed?

I would recommend just building your stacks like you normally would with a big group.

And make sure the cameraman on c gets
The bill for the added post time

Thats basic stuff for an operator on a multicam shoot. Im presuming he was briefed by the director or someone in a post capacity NOT to stop recordings.

i think youll have to edit each of the cam c clips to the timeline manually.
