i’ve filmed a sporting event with two camera’s both camera’s have been on and of during the match, i know this is not the way to begin a multi cam edit, but i was hoping i could fix it in this way

first of all i synced the clips of both camera’s in a sequence then i made seperate sequences of both camer’s and dragged them into a new sequence.

so both sequences are on top of each other and are synced.. is there a way to use a multicam option for this setting? i’m sure i did it this way before but i do not know if it was final cut or premiere..

    thanks

If you have all of Camera 1’s shots on V1 and all of Camera 2’s shots on V2, you should be able to do this as long as they are synced at this point.

What I would do is hide the V2 track and export V1 as it’s own clip. Then Hide V1 and export V2 as it’s own clip. Import the two clips and sync them as you would any other multi-clip using the in as your sync point.

mmm thanks for the reply.. but is there no other way..im trying to avoid making each cam an individual movie as i’m editing in low res. so i can link and export the final movie in full quality in the end.
if i do it in the way you suggested, i cannot link back the individual files..
can i not make one multi sequence out of two sequences containing synced clips??

You cannot make multiclips out of sequences. The best you can do is reduce the scale on both to 50% and put them side by side in the Canvas.

Next time, don’t stop the cameras. Roll them continuously if you want to use the Multiclip option.

Premiere Pro uses sequences for Multi-cam. FCP uses clips.

that’s it than.. that was the mix up premiere vs final cut multicam..

unfortunately I’m on a work station which only has final cut. but i solved my problem by syncing each camera renderd it as a self contained movie and used the multicam, not a neat way, but it works..

thanks for all your quick responses
