Multicam / Effects Question
whats up everyone? heres a milticam / effects question for ya’s. when playing a sequence in multicam mode, avid effects appear as black frames in every monitor except for dissolves … dissolves play fine. if we take the extra step and render real-time effects, some of them play fine but others (like mattes and layered effects) still bug out. i suspect this is happening because we do not have nitris boxes hooked up but wanted to run it by the group for additional input. thoughts? we’re working on avid based (OS 10.7.5) media composer 6.5.3 accessing shared media via isis 4.6.1.

I run into similar issues with layers of mixed frame rates and effects, as well as when using Sapphire effects even after rendering. It sucks for sure, and the system crashes often when it hits these sections.
Have you tried changing the playback from the “green” high res mode to a “yellow” mode?
I’ve also hear that play toggle length works well for people if they are susceptible to crashing.
