Multicam Editing
I am working with a 3 multicam edit with seperate production sound – ie a music concert. It has taken me a long time to realise the sync button in the viewer and canvas has to be open in order to make anything work but having got over this hurdle, I can’t work out how to make cuts which only apply to the 3 video tracks leaving my track 4 which is audio only to run uniterrupted throughout – should I not have included it in the multiclip at all? I don’t understand how the green and blue outlines relate to the drop down on the viewer for video+audio, video or audio designations. I’d be grateful for an explanation.

Errr, thanks – it was very late last night and the manual had stopped making sense to me. I think I now understand two things:
Switching is just for viewing and it doesn’t rememeber anything – for this you use cut.
Secondly, the reason why I couldn’t get the video and audio channels to behave was because I was looking in the viewer. I got round it in the end by muting audio channel of the multiclip and bringing the production audio in on 3&4 as a seperate track. Do people normally assign the production sound as an angle (without video) in the multiclip or was this effectively my error?I am on a steep learning curve here and having got my sequence sorted, I now find when I export to compressor and encode 16:9 Best 90 mins that I end up with a sort of extra wide video image. I notice the anamorphic tick is there in the browser against all my takes but not my sequence. I have now ticked this in the sequence – in fact I have created a new sequence, ticked anamorphic in sequence settings and pasted the material back in the timeline. Now it looks wierd also in the canvas but ignoring this, I have compressing it again to see if it now looks right in DVD Studio Pro (which is set to Letterbox 16:9.
I am sorry if this is indeed all in the manual but I find it hard to take on that amount of information quickly.
