  • Multicam edit without making Multicam clip ?

Posted by Anhtu Vu on July 10, 2011 at 3:51 am

I’m editing a TV show shot on two Sony F700. when i got the footage from the client, camA is progressive and B is Interlaced, therefore there’s no way i can create a multiclip unless i deinterlaced all CamB footage.

any suggestions for an easy way out ?

    Try the old fashioned way:

Put your main cam on track 2 and your B cam (the one you will cut to less often) on track 1. Scaled them both down so that you can see both cams during playback. Then watch it down and just blade out of the parts of the main cam you don’t want to reveal the b cam below. If you don’t want to spend time cutting on the first pass you can use markers to mark where you want to cut then go back and splice later.

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply. This is what i’ve been doing but it’s still a real drag as there are multi takes of the same scene and and the usable audio is bouncing between cam all the time. Anyways, i think i will convert all my 1080p30 to 1080i60, as it’s going to broadcast, and save myself the headache.
