Multicam and multiple codecs 10 cam shoot
We are looking at doing a 10 camera multicam live concert shoot in house. Our traditional recording set up is 6 Omneon record channels recording xdcam 422 50Mbit 2997. To add the extra 4 camera recording we are looking to use 4 of our 6 Avid Editors to capture live sources.
Doing tests today i am finding that I am having a issue trying to capture with the avid into XDcam 50bit I keep getting fatal errors. When I capture DNxHD 145 I have no issues and capture works great.
Well this seems to present a problem as I will have 6 XDcam isos and 4 DNxHD isos. So I am trying to figure out what the best workflow for this will be.
Additional info, we are working in a MC6 environment with each editor connect up to a central NAS with a 1 gig connection.

Do you find it bailing after the resulting file exceeds 2GB? I think MC knows how to make multiple files fro DNxHD for long captures, but perhaps not for other codecs. Or it could be that setting isn’t active in the capture settings.

no its errors after about 5 secounds of trying to capture.
It gives a super long error message i could post but i’m guessing on a Avid tech could understand such jargon 🙂

Which codec are trying to capture to? Perhaps it can’t keep up for an MPEG format without codec assistance on the hardware. But seeing the superlong error message might help.

There’s the problem-in general, the blackmagic drivers have trouble from time to time. Why not just do dnxhd and transcode later. Additionally, I’ll edit the project for free for you :)))
