Trying to layoff to betacam Sp (UVW-1800) From fcp. have it hooked up through component and have d deck control. I cant seem to figure out where the ref out is on the multi bridge. I see in the settings tab when using a analog source you can use the sdi to be ref video is this correct? I have tried this and when I plug it into the deck the I see on the playback monitor that sync is lost. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

You get ref from sync generator not from multibridge if used regular way.

Generaly it is possible to loop Y if i remember correctly to ref and loop it on deck end
or just try to use PAL(ntsc) output as ref.

It should work like this but sync generator would be the best solution.

Thanks for the response Marcus. That worked. I took the NTSC/PAL into the ref. Not sure why it is working. Thanks for the advice

    It is pretty simple.

Broadcast decks are usually linked to whole studio sync generator i.e. genlock.

You now simulate this with pal out as you have only one deck and output. In big studio
where you have a lot of different machines you have to keep them in sync that picture
would not “jump”. As you only have 2 devices you can simulate sync like this.
This method has downside also. When you do not have any thing coming out from
pal you lose sync. Once you play out something you will be fine.
