I have a HDMI LCD monitor attached to the MultiBridge Extreme DVI output with the HDMI adapator. There is a very noticable delay in the picture of the HDMI monitor. Also, the output from the MultiBridge seems to only be 1080i even though I am outputing SD (480) only. When I connect a Dell DVI monitor instead, the delay is gone and the monitor receives the correct pixel to pixel resolution.

Are these normal problems when using the DVI output with HDMI? Is there a way around it (without replacing my very expensive HDMI monitor)?

    thanks,

I case anyone is interested, this is what I found. The Sony Bravia KDL TVs do not work with MultiBridge. It seems to be an issue with the HDMI versions. Black Magic uses the current HDMI 1.3A standard, while Sony is using the older 1.0. Although it should be backward compatible, it does not seem to be in this case. So what happens is, any format the MultiBridge outputs through the DVI connection, the Sony TV sees as 1080i, and in doing so incorrectly interprets the image making it look bad. It’s too bad because the Bravia KDL have better specs then the Panasonic Pro HD monitors, does true 1920×1080, and has a full assortment of professional controls/adjustments including individual RGB color space settings.

I’m about to purchase a pro hd plasma from panasonic (50inch 9uk model)
with the hdmi input board option.

Will there be a problem mapping to its resolution from my multibridge extreme dvi out with the hdmi adapter?

Should get you an answer faster than a user-to-user forum, even though they do stop by here frequently.

A tech from Black Magic told me they have a Panasonic TV in house that works fine for them. I don’t know what model/type, but I’m guessing they all use the same HDMI format so you will probably be OK.
