I’ve spent several days trying to get Multibridge Pro working with our Mac Pro. I’ve also talked to tech support, but they haven’t been able to solve my problem. Before I request an RMA or sit on hold, I am asking for any suggestions from users who have a similar config working. All New Multibridge Pro. Mac Pro Dual 2.66. 3 gigs RAM, 10.4.8, MB driver 5.8, Video connections: Sony NTSC display, Panasonic Plasma HDMI and component. Set the Mac PCI utility confi #2, slot 4 at 4X.

Problem: No NTSC composite or component output in FCPro. No Audio Output when in NTSC.

Symptoms: NTSC output does not work! When I install the drivers, and reboot, I get the Mac desktop on the outputs in 1080 mode, so far so good. When I run FCPro 5.1.2 output goes to black/snowy on output to NTSC composite display and analog component plasma display shows “no signal” , audio is dead as well. I can’t get any output to NTSC no matter what settings I try. I’m testing with FCPro NTSC bars and tone. Playback settings to BM NTSC 8-bit or 10 bit.

I found that If I disable the “desktop on restart” in the MB control panel, then I can playback HD 1080i 60 color bars and tone in FCPro, but only when playback is set to BM 1080i output. I can then also capture component NTSC just fine! Serial control works fine as well. But, I still cannot display NTSC video or hear audio output when I set playback to BM NTSC 8-bit. Even the material I just captured to BM NTSC 8-bit uncompressed.

What I’ve tried: deleted and reinstalled drivers many times, No change, flashed MB with MB utility and back, no change. Disk permissions, nothing. I’m going to try going to earlier drivers.

Am I wrong to suspect a hardware failure in this MB? Are others using this unit succesfully with Mac Pro?

    Thanks

Tried driver 5.7.2. No change. One other thing I tried which leads me to think it’s hardware failure:
I change the display control panel for the multibridge desktop output from default 1080 x 1920 to 720 X 486 29 Hz and the analog displays go blank with a little snow. I have both the NTSC output and component outputs hooked up. I tested both of those cables just to be sure.

    this is a real bummer.

I’m guessing it’s a hardware problem. We have 2 Multi’s (5.8 drivers) running on MacPros with 4 GB ram. Running BM card in slot 3, Seritek SATA controller in slot 4 and X1900 Video in slot 1. All outputs are active and working as expected.

I had this Multibridge replaced and it works fine now, so it was indeed a hardware malfunction.

What a pain, because it’s new, I wasn’t sure if I was configuring it incorrectly. At least my other unit was working fine, so I new it had to be it and not me.
