Multibridge Pro – Slow to start capture in FCP
I am having (and have had for a long time) a very annoying problem while capturing using Blackmagic Multibridge Pro.
> Minor Problem 1: Once I select log and capture, it takes over 10 seconds for the log and capture window to open. OK, obviously not life threatening but definitely not right.
> Major Problem 2: Once I click capture now (capturing SD-SDI VIDEO & AUDIO from DigiBeta), the system takes 6 seconds and 9 frames before it actually starts to capture. Very annoying when capturing lots of clips.
but…. the delay is different when capturing just video, i that instance the delay is reduced to 2 sec 23 frames.
but…. when capturing just audio the delay is again out to 6 sec 9 frames. Why would capturing audio cause such a lengthy delay??
This problem is compounded (the delay is nearly doubled!!!) when I have a canopus ADVC110 attached to the system by firewire. What the??
Drive specs are definitely not an issue as the capture RAID drive writes at 390+MB/sec.
I’ve spoken with Blackmagic Australia many times regarding this issue, they have never heard of it happening, and have even gone as far to send out a replacement Multibridge to test (with the same results).
I capture everything using ProRes422HQ but I have done hours of testing using different capture settings, different capture drives (including internal HD).
Who do you turn to when the manufacturers can’t help?
