I’ve recently put together a new system…Mac Pro, 4gigs ram, FCS, with a Multibridge Pro into a Dell 2407 monitor via component. When the monitor comes up for the first time I see a somewhat degraded view of my desktop. Going into System Preferences/displays I can access the tab for the Dell monitor but I can not change the refresh rate…50, 59 and 60 hz is grayed out. 30 hz is the highest i can get. When using the Dell as the external monitor in Final Cut and using the Blackmagic Design HDTV 59.97 8-bit preset (on Sony Z1 footage) I get the fullscreen preview but it does not seem as sharp as it should be.

Was on the phone with Caspar in BM support today and they were stumped. If any of the BM folks are lurking about, feel free to weigh on what might be the problem!

update: i think there was a conflict between the Multibridge and the upgraded video card (X1900) in the Mac, keeping me from getting the 60hz refresh rate in component mode. So for now I will use the other DVI output on the video card for monitoring. Don’t know if this points to BM software or the ATI (video card)
