August 16, 2005 at 11:58 pmEveryone that knows isn’t telling…..they won’t break the trust of their sources and even if they did, the message wouldn’t be up for long. Marketing wisdom dictates alignment with industry conventions i.e IBC (8 Sept) and where possible a little before.

August 17, 2005 at 6:33 amHi Nico,
“Soon” is becoming an overused word so I’ll say something else 🙂
We’ve been hoping to ship this northern summer and it’s getting close to completion but it has taken a little longer to make sure that it is working really fast. We could have made some compromises and shipped it a little earlier but decided that we would build the Multibridge Extreme for maximum speed and reliability. The extra speed helps avoid the kind of problems that can occur if you build a product that is only just capable of doing a job and which can then be badly affected by any unexpected slowdowns. There has also been the usual saga of some component supply holdups but this is pretty normal and we ordered components ages ago so any delivery delays haven’t been too long.
The engineers are very happy with the way that the new Multibridge units are looking and we’re getting closer to releasing them but still have some work to do before they will be released.
Regards,
Luke Maslen

August 18, 2005 at 10:04 amI like your attitude Luke. Way too many companies box-shift before they have fully tested and de-bugged. It’s reassuring to know that the multibridge will be perfect when it arrives (I hope it makes a nice cup of tea).
Having said that….HURRY UP!!!

August 20, 2005 at 8:47 pmHi
I am particularly interested in buying a Multibridge Studio & PCI bridge card for my G5 D2G over here in London . . . I (along with lots of people I’m sure) have been holding off buying a current Decklink Pro HD card & standard Multibridge thinking the new Multibridge Extreme/Studio are just around the (IBC) corner . . . but I guess better relaibale than early ?

August 23, 2005 at 10:33 amI’m doing exactly the same thing.
I’ve got a couple of Blackmagic things and can say without hesisitation that its worth waiting for.
Blackmagic are at the cutting edge of the game, they are really great guys who will go the extra mile to help you out wherever you are in the world. They produce updates to keep up with new operating systems/ updated software faster than just about anyone else, and their support is excellent.
What else do you need from your gear?
