Multi-track video recorder ??
Is there a way I could record 4 separate USB video camera signals
at the same time and later edit the 4 recorded videos as video tracks using a NLE like Vegas ?
I know there are video surveillance kit with 4 cameras and more
that uses dedicated recorder to record the 4 video feeds at the same time
but I suspect the recorded videos are ‘not exportable’ and use special formats..
I use a soft called Vmix that accepts many types of external cameras
feeds connected to the PC (USB, firewire, etc..) but this soft
is a switcher and only records the final ‘live selected’ camera,
so only one camera recorded at a time.

This may not be your solution, but who knows?
There’s a software called VMix for online broadcasting.
This does a huge lot of things, cuts, transitions on the fly, also recording output channel as well as input channels independently.
I saw it was used with HDMI capture cards, and connected 4 sources (cameras, and a PC output).
May be it works with USB cans too…
I’m not a master of this software, just used to work in a team using it for onkine broadcasting…
May be you could rake a look at it.Best regards

I reread your post, and do I undestand right, you mention vmix and not able recording inputs?
Tomorrow I’ll ask the guy with VMix how it really goes?
I’m quite sure, we, the cameramen didn’t have to push rec button on our cameras last time.Best regards

In the mean while I talked to some Vmix experts and they told me
there is a function in Vmix called ‘Multicorder’ that allows many video sources
to be recorded individualy ! The only minimum requirement is to use a SSD
dedicated drive for the video files and a i7 CPU core ..
And this function is available in the vMix 4K and Pro editions.
