I’m working on a multi-camera, multi-take edit, I mention the “multi-take” part because it means creating a multi-camera clip doesn’t quite work since the events aren’t always pin-point accurate.

What is starting to work for me as a workflow is taking the performance (it’s a dance) sequence by sequence and choosing the take, splitting the clip, and then rolling everything else back to make room for more.

What I’m finding a need for is to select clips on multiple tracks and roll the clip edge back. Doing it one by one gets a little tedious (tho it does provide a sort of “pre-preview”).

I’ve tried various modifier keys with the clips selected but nothing keeps the clip edges synced up as I change them, only the current track.

Any way to do it? Or am I just being lazy and need to slog through every clip? 😉

What you should do is line up all of the camera angles on multiple tracks so that they are all in sync. If you are using Vegas Pro you can then create a multicamera track and select the camera angles use mutlicam. If you have Vegas Movie Studio, you can manually split your events and copy them to a master track above all of the others. This way you can easily change your decisions later simply by replacing events on the top track.

Like I said above, the total amount of takes consist of different takes and two different cameras (so, two angles per take). The performance wasn’t exact each time, so even though they start and end together they drift in places (the performance drifts). That’s why I opted not to use a multi-camera clip.

I suppose making a comp track would work, but simply splitting my clips is going pretty swell, the only things that’s a drag is rolling back “all but one” clip after each edit decision. Being able to select them all and move the clip edge would be a huge timesaver.
