So, I shot an indie film and so far have created a Vegas 9 project for each of the scenes (15 in total). I will be putting this on both HD internet, Bluray and DVD.

With regards to workflow, I was thinking that I can render each of the 15 projects into it’s own HD format. Then string those 15 renders into a master project where I can render the master into the different formats for DVD Architect and such.

Is this the right approach? If so, what is the best format for rendering these 15 scenes so I can work with them in a master project…AVI, MP4, M2TS, …?

Not really, although it will work. I would just nest the project files. If you drop a project file into another Vegas project it will behave just like any other piece of media. We call this a nested project. This allows you to work in sections and combine them without any rendering yet still keep them editable.

Yea, this is one of the more powerful features in Vegas. For example, if you wanted to create a 16:9 widescreen version of an SD 4:3 project, you would drop your 4:3 project into a 16:9 project and apply Pan/Crop to the entire SD project to 16:9 and you’re done (instant widescreen). I often create multi-track intros for my videos and do that in a separate project and then drop the into into my main project. This is a great way to re-use project assets.
