Multi Program File Organization
I would like an opinion before I begin setting up my source file structure on my drives.
Until recently, I only managed Photoshop files and FC files. Now with my upgrade to FC Studio (and two other production related programs) I have five and six programs I’m interacting with per project.
I know there are many ways and it is a subjective process, but…
1- Create directories named by project title, then dump all files for that project into a single folder?
2- Create directories named by project title, then sub directory titles for each program-created file, and one “source elements” title sub directory?
3- Create directories named by program (FC, Motion, Photoshop, etc,) then sub directories titles under each one of these for each project (kind of redundant.)I don’t like the idea of using FC to create the scratch track and then dumping all program and source files into the scratch disk directory under the appropriate project directory. I have SO MUCH media per project, it’s crazy looking through hundreds of files for a recently added source element. So, the FC scratch media is out of this organization chart.
Thanks!
Wherever I am…I’m lost!
