I am assisting a church in streamlining their video production of their services. They use 2 cameras and switch a line feed through a small mixer. Then they digitize the material and add graphics in Adobe Premiere. I have been an editor for a while but have not worked much with Premiere. Is there anyway of feeding both cameras into Premiere and cutting the service live in there instead of doing a line cut through a mixer and then posting it? If so, how can that be done? They would like to cut out the step of editing to tape first. And they would like more control of the posting(trimming ect). Thanks

Premiere does not do internal live mixing. But with an analog to digital converter they could record their video straight to premiere. One problem with this approach is if the computer chokes during the process.

But this would be recording their line cut correct? One other question about Premiere. Can you feed the system a camera and use it as a DVE? Use Premiere as a source on their mixer to adjust or crop shots? They want to half wipe their wide shot with a powerpoint slide on the lower 3rd during their worship service so that. In order for it to look right, the wide shot needs to be slide up some. Can premiere help us with that?

[Thomas phillips] “Can premiere help us with that?”

Probably not. You need something like a Newtek Tricaster system to mix several sources and apply effects like PIPs on the fly.
