  • Multi-Cam Edit- Keep getting “Out of Memory” message

I shot a dance recital and using 3 canon cameras (HV30x2 and XHA1). I shot HDV 60i and captured using ProRes 422. I am trying to use the multi-cam edit feature that is in FCP Studio 2 but I keep getting an out of memory warning box when I try to play the clip. I checked the ignore box on that, and it will play for a few seconds and then the video stops (although the timeline keeps moving along). I know my computer is a bit on the slow side (Please refer to my computer specs at the bottom of this message) and I am using an external drive via Firewire 400. I am trying to figure out a way to lower the quality of the video enough to use the feature. I have messed around with the RT settings and although it helps, I still get the dropped frame warning box and even if I ignore it the multi cam clip only plays for a few seconds and then stops.
Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

My Specs: iMac, MacOSX 10.4.11, 2GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM
The external drive is a Seagate FreeAgent Pro 500GB w/ 160GB free space.

Thank you for such a quick response. I will read into offline RT and take a look at the podcasts. Thanks again Mr. Harrington!
