Multi-cam audio issue
I have an issue ensuring I am using the correct sound source(s) for a multi-cam edit I am doing.
Here’s the background.
I did a two camera shoot of a English lesson recently.
Camera A was trained on the teacher, and B on the students.
We mic’ed up the teacher. And we took sound from the students by placing four microphones around the classroom. The sound from the teacher and the sound from the students were recorded onto separate audio tracks, but fed onto camera A.
The sound from Camera B was just from the top mic and we don’t need to use it.
I followed the usual procedure in creating a multi-cam sequence and that all works fine.
It creates two audio tracks that appear to be from a/ the teacher feed and b/ the student feed.
Following FCP advice, I thought it best to lock the audio and just cut between the pictures from camera A and B. Now let me explain the issue I have.
Doing it this way means that the sound from the teacher sounds a bit echoey. I’ve checked the separate tracks and it sound much better on one of the tracks than the other. Likewise the students sound, sounds slightly better on one track rather than the other.
I am assuming that each track represents the feed from a/ the teacher b/ the students. But maybe I’ve got this wrong?
But I guess what I would like to do it somehow use the sound from both the tracks as they both sound v good. is this possible? Or have I misunderstood how it all works?
Many thanks any help greatly appreciated.
Best
Philip
