Multi-Cam Alternative
Hello. I’m trying to edit a music video wich i recorded with 6 cameras.
However, as Premiere Pro multicam feature allows editing only 4 cameras,
i would like to know if there is an alternative way to do the cuts. I was
trying to find something like… (example) at time 0m0s video1 is
visible; at the time 0m5s, the video2 is visible, etc. The only way i
imagined would be working with the opacity (transparency) of the videos,
as the upper videos hide the below ones…. but it would give me a lot of
work.Can you suggest me something better? Thanks in advance.

Why can’t you edit a a few cameras down to 1 or two streams and then do a four cam edit.I have used six cameras before and two were sationary un-manned. These were wide shots used when my action shots were not where we needed them.
once you run through your 4 cam edit you can go back and correct or when you are done you can render out and then input you other shots or enter special effects as needed.
I edit using HD streams with the Cineform codec on Dell 690 with dual 5470 and 16gb of mem.

1) Create a 9 layer timeline
2) edit your cameras in sync to master audio on video tracks 1 – 6
3) use SCALE and position to create a 6 picture split of all the layers
4) use the title tool to create number lay overs that correspond to the track numbers over the video
5) place title on video track 7
6) Export your timeline as a clip
7) place the exported clip on track 8
8) Now you can see all your cameras in sync
9) Reset the position and scale on the clips on tracks 1 – 6 so they’d all be full screen
10) use the blade tool to split any clip and edit the split portion on track 9using this method of setup you can use pretty much as many cameras as you want….
