    Hi,

I am about to export a timeline, reel one, of a feature film with 26 audio tracks to either OMF or AAF for a
Pro Tools session. PT doesn’t keep the track structure/hierarchy from PP. It also creates 45 tracks.

All audio tracks in PP are stereo and it seems that I need to have 26 mono tracks for Pro Tools so it is able to read it properly.

Now I never ran into this problem before and I am kind of dumb struck. If you had a similar problem, any advise or help is greatly appreciated.

I received the sequence from a previous editor and had no time to create a custom setup fro audio or video file imports.

The question is how to export an OMF that doesn’t confuse Pro Tools when it comes out of PP?

    Cheers and Thank you,

    Max

    Max,

Speaking from the PT side of things, as a quick hack to resolve the issue, you can:

    1) Import the OMF
    2) create the amount of stereo audio tracks in Pro Tools that you want to have
    3) Make sure the mono audio tracks are in the right order, so that they’ll automatically “pair” to the stereo tracks with each other
    4) Select all of the mono audio track regions
    5) Drag them, en masse, over the empty stereo tracks
    6) Delete, en masse, the now-empty mono tracks

I’ve used this solution more times than I can count…
