    I’d value some help.
I’m long-time film maker, long-time editor, but poor technician.

I have an MTS file from a client. They want H264 with fairly standard specs output.

I have tried a couple of MTS converters, currently working on Easysoft Mac video converter.

    Question.
I tried converting the original to the output spec and got poor results.
Tried instead a preset HD Mov, worked in FCP in that format, then output in the specs asked for, and that looks better but not great.

Can someone suggest a better route?

I am PAL but I’m not sure that is an issue.

I presume the mts file is mpeg2 so why transcode that to mpeg4 (H264?)

Just play the mts or rewrap it to a standard mpeg2 file. No transcoding and will look as good as the mpeg2 is.
