    Hi,

We have Canon HF200 cameras, which usually work seamlessly through the FCP Log and Transfer window. Unfortunately one card seems to be playing up, there are files on it, they show up in the ‘stream’ folder as .mts files, once you got through the entire path thread, but they are not appearing automatically to transfer or view as normal.

Does anyone know of a free .mts converter (for mac) i could use for this one occasion?? I ‘hopefully’ don’t need to purchase anything, but the free trials found so far are obviously either watermarked or time limited for outputs.

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks
    C

    ClipWrap. Not free, but $30.

Your files are not showing up because you probably have a corrupted file somewhere within your AVCHD card/folder structure…Try this, It saved me the last time I had problems.
Take a good working AVCDH folder structure on your hard drive, one that you know shows video when you point to it in log and transfer, duplicate it and the delete ONY the .mts files which are several file folders deep in that duplicated folder structure. Then copy all of the .mts files from your bad folder structure and paste them into your new working folder structure EXACTLY where you deleted the old ones.

Now they should show up in Log and transfer.

A lot of folks don’t understand that the AVCHD file structure is CRITICAL to FCP’s log and transfer to be able to see the .mts files properly and sometimes I get folders of ONLY .mts files on a hard drive and not the whole file structure. This has worked for me several times and has saved many hours of frustration.

    Hi Richard,

thanks for this, I don’t have a file path on my hard drive that would work, but i was able to copy them on to another card, the files have shown up in FCP log and transfer. All files play in the preview window, but unfortunately only one will transfer. One transferred half way and then cut out, and the last will not ingest at all and keeps crashing FCP.

Do you have any other suggestions, or am I going to have to give up on retrieving these shots?

    Thanks again

    Christina
